Gospel Joy trainings are intentionally designed to cover foundational Christian teachings, encourage them in their faith, and equip them to lead an audio Bible study.

We often forget the influence women have, even in our own culture, but especially in rural Africa. Women are the backbone to rural village life. Supporting their spiritual development is important to the long-term depth of the church in Africa.  

Imagine sitting in a church that has a dirt floor, wood slatted walls, and wood benches. The preacher is up speaking and you are curious about what he says about a certain passage of the Bible. Yet you don’t possess the skills to go home and learn more.

Many people ask why Gospel Joy produced a Bible study on the book of Colossians. They wonder if it is a favorite book or if there was a revelation from the Lord.

Early February we received a text message from our partners in Zambia, John and Beauty. Their compound where the live and do ministry was flooded due to excessive rain. The storm tore off the roof, ruined ministry equipment like the speaker, spoiled their mattresses, and more.

Beauty is a pastor in Ndola, Zambia where she and her husband have a church and ministry to their neighborhood and widows.

When I was nineteen I spent a few hours at the port city of Jaffa, Israel. This ancient port is where Jonah, the prophet in the Old Testament, hired a boat and fled in the opposite direction of where God told him to go. I spent an hour sitting on a pier, with old and new boats floating in the glimmering Mediterranean Sea while I read the book of Jonah.
